What the audience sees, and what the speaker sees

The audience sees two clear panes of glass and a speaker who is looking at the room. The speaker sees the script, large and steady, in whichever pane they turn to.

Each pane reflects a monitor at the foot of its stand, so the text is visible only from the lectern.

Questions about presidential teleprompters

How many glass panels does a speech need?

Two is standard. The speaker alternates between left and right and takes in the whole room. A single panel works for a short address in a small room.

Will the panels show on camera?

On a close shot of the speaker they sit outside the frame. On a wide shot they read as two thin, clear panes beside the lectern.

Does it work in a bright room or outdoors?

Reflected text fades in strong light, so daylight and bright stage washes call for high-brightness monitors. Describe the room in your quote request and the right monitors are sourced for the job.

Can several speakers share the same panels?

Yes. Each speaker's script is loaded separately with their own text size, and panel height is reset between speakers.
